It’s Siu Loung Bowowowowowowowwow TIME!!!
,
whoa, check out our special guest all the way from Cali!
Attendeeeeeees:
Alphatrion and Franksabunch™
Azriha, man i’m totally not awake…
FOOOOOOOOOD
all we got was turnip puffs…
NOT! you kidding me? three young strapping boys, we need our daily requirements yo.
Fried Seafood Udon, Beef Chow Mein, and 2x Crab Meat Siu Loung Bao (yeah we dogged one before i could take a pic…)
Fried Seafood Udon, another dish that i’ve always been ‘unable’ to take pics of. Finally, here it is. The first time i had this Churchboy ordered it, and i don’t like udon. But this was freaking good. The seafood is fresh and abundant, and the noodles cooked to perfection. We’re talking about good shrimp, fish, squid, baby boks, and scallions. deeeeelish!
Beef Chow Mein, at this establisment, they do a pretty good job with their chowmein. Lots of sauce as you can see, and they dice up their veggies (baby corn, carrots, napa, and scallions) and stirfry it with their beef (you can also get it in pork or chicken too) and put it on top of a lovely bed of fried noodles. So far this place has not disappointed with their type of chowmein.
- too busy stuffing our faces with bao… -
Man food was great. Thanks to Dr. Franksabunch for picking up the check.
Antics:
what a horrible picture of me, i look like i’m taking a dump.
That’s more like it, but i still look like a tard. Great meeting ya Franky. We gotz to do this again soonz, hopefully in your neck of the woods so i can return the favor bro. Fat Nation for life.

One of my favorite soups at High Pearl, “Hoy Wong Gung” Basically it has tofu, egg white, chives, scallions, bits of shrimp and some mushrooms in it, very very goood.
supplied red vinegar for soup. boooooooooooo!
mmm so much ‘liu’ in it.
Fried Tofu and it’s delicious supplied sauce.
I tofu.
Salt and Pepper fried pork chops.
Crispy and sooooo flavorful. *CRUNCH*
there was actually more but i didn’t take the picture in time..
Finally, a picture of the best seafood chow mein in nyc. For the longest time i’ve always forgotten to take a picture of their chow mein. Check out how much ‘soung’ they give you on top of the noodles, and the wonderful contrast of the fresh vegetables. They don’t skimp you here. Man this was really good tonight.

ALOHA!
my second favorite place in the whole world (LA being the first of course
) is the lovely state of hawaii, and specifically the island of oahu. it has what every great getaway location needs: breathtaking surroundings, wonderful people (especially the really cute surfer boys i met
) and best of all amazing FOOD!
i was fortunate to spend a week over there last month with most of my time being spent at a conference selling t-shirts and other stuff for my friend’s company. unfortunately for me
(but great for my friend!) the sales were pretty brisk so i couldn’t get away from our booth that often to eat. i missed hitting some of my favorite eats: malasadas at leonard’s, mariposa, giovanni’s shrimp truck, nico’s for their furikake ahi, breakfast at boots & kimo’s and afternoon tea at the moana surfrider banyan veranda but it’s ok because a trip in october is already planned and all those places (and more!) are on the list of dining establishments not to miss.
even though i missed a bunch of great places i was able to make it around the island a bit with my new camera and documented most of the stuff i ate. enjoy!
afternoon snack from 7-11
lobster handrolls at marukai
chili rice (eaten in my car!)
from zippy’s
lau lau at costco
portuguese sausage also at costco
asian food section at longs drugs
genki sushi isn’t the fanciest sushi joint around, but it’s fun to take what you want off the conveyor belt
kaka’ako kitchen’s
tempura ahi sandwich
on taro bun
spicy mixed seafood
glass noodles salad from panya
mandoo plate from this
tiny korean restaurant
at the manoa marketplace
hamburger steak with gravy
at big city diner
(i ate this right before getting on the plane!)
mini korean bbq chicken
plate from yummy
(not bad for mall food court, huh?)
avocado (front) & ortega (back) burgers with fries
at kua’aiana sandwich
best shave ice EVER! is from waiola’s
(mango and lychee
:sigh: i could eat this everyday)
cinnamon honey toast from shokudo

Fat Nation Quartet in K-town (4-17-2007 2:35am)
Attendees:
Alphatrion and MeridianMan
MariesMist and Azriha
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD:
Three of us got this… it was kinda bland….
had to add salt…atleast we thought it was salt… 0_o msg?
This was Alphatrion’s order. it was kinda bland too…
mmmm needs sauce.
Alpha loved the korean kiebalsa.
Hey don’t think we were picking on Merdian Man, he picked this place!!!
She liked the rice in her soup. But was not fond of the pancakes.
I didn’t like the food, was very bland. Even the Korean Pancake we got was bland…and it was weird, was made out of potatoes instead of eggs…
This is also the first korean restaurant i’ve ever been to where they did not serve any banchans…
- Way to stuff your face Alpha. LOL -
- Fat Nation Quartet: don’t we all look fabulous at 2:30am? -
damn it, I dropped my gum into my soup…doh… service kinda sucked too…maybe it was the hour in which we came? For now i cannot recommend this place. But we did have a good time, great company.

Fat Nation Trio Outing (4-14-2007 10:35pm)
Maple Vietnamese Restaurant
PH: 718-359-1120
41-96 Main Street
Flushing, NY 11355
The last time i was here was probably 2-3 years ago with mugen and boobley’s_mom. It was ok then, but people like mashi_s2k and kevinAKAmonk have been swearing by it, so i thought it’d be a good idea to hit it up. It worked out cause Dimntrg was craving pho, and mariesmist was starving after a long day at work.
Attendees:
Azriha
Pho’d
so i decided to get the large pho (pronounced ‘fuh’). The meat is very fresh and sweet, however, smaller sliced then my favorite place. a decent portion, broth was good hot, and the noodles were also quite fresh. I think that overall the pho is better then my favorite place except for portion wise. mine was $5.50
Maria got the Beef with fried tofu over rice. the beef was very well prepared and well cooked (not overly) and the sauce was quite delicious. I will have to sample this dish in great detail next time. $4.95
Dee had Pho #16 – $4.50
I forgot:
hehehe forgot to mention we ordered the spring rolls here also (large[8] – $6.75). Crispy skin was good but the insides were somewhat lacking, but not in portion, but in taste. Maybe i’m just use to the other place? their chopsticks suck, i had to use like three chopsticks to eat….great food, great company.
Bubble Tea @ Sago (Main St.)
Someone ordered me a god aweful matcha drink.
she got herself a nice black tea with bubbles trying to look innocent
and that someone was YOU!
Maria got boobies…er Mango mochi…that she wasn’t happy with…
all in all we had a good time. we were loud.
well one of us was. LOL scared away the first table that sat next to us. LOLOLOLOLOL
Mayhem at Castle Azriha
GIRLS ARE NOT….
SUPPOSE TO WIN!!!
AT VIDEO GAMES I OWN!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!
and guess what movie we watched.

First Fat Nation Meeting of ’07 (4-6-07 11:20 pm)
You Chun
PH: 718-461-6511
156-03 Northern Boulevard
Flushing, NY 11354
First Fat Nation meeting of 2007. Decided to head back to You Chun, Korean Cold Noodle place. They are known to make their own dough for their noodles and dumplings, which are really fresh.
Attendees:
Azriha, Kinseeker, John, and Afro Kev.
Appetizers:
mmmm Banchans.
What I also like about this place is that they give you a nice pitcher of hot broth, aside from the tea and water.
The broth may be overly salty for some.
Main Course:
Kinseeker got the Octopus Stone Pot Bibimbop
This looked and smelt very good, but i forgot to try it…but seeing as Kinseeker cleaned house on it, even after he ate at IHOP just before, it had to have been goooood.
John got the Dumpling Rice w/ Rice Cake
(we all tried this and agreed we didn’t like it, but to each their own…it was like sour and spicy and just didn’t fit my pallate.)
LA Kalbi Ribs (these came with Afro Kev‘s Cold noodle combo)
I got the Fried Meat Dumplings (Mandoo)
The dumpling skin was so fresh and crispy and they need not skimp on the innards of the tastey dumpling.
Afro Kev got Cold Noodles
This place is known for their cold noodles, and it did not let Kev down.
Man that was some good eats yo. LOL First meeting of the year, quite successful.
(note to self: Never let John order anything for anyone, not even himself…)
We then proceeded to the 24/7 H-Mart and got some good korean snacks.
- END
